What would be the best way to strip and paint or stain a large Deck (Old).

Your first decision is between paint and stain. Stain can be easily touched up or the treatment repeated as necessary: paint is all or nothing i.e. you may need to strip old paint first, or at least prepare a 100 per cent undercoat.
Your first actual task is to check carefully for rot, and repair damaged boards or joists as needed.
