Cordless Phone Ringer-Off & Flashing Setup Problem (Panasonic)

Hello,

Sr. Citizen, very, now, so please bear with me a bit. I will try to explain my Ringer/Flasher problems as best I can.

Have received a 1 yr old Digital Panasonic Cordless Phone System that I am trying to get fully working. Model is: KX-TG6644. Dect 6.0

Probably newer ones out now, but I doubt that they would be very different regarding my question.

For the Handsets, how do I turn off the Ringer Sound, but Most Definitely still have the flashing light on the Handset Flash for any and all Incoming calls ? (no Ringer sound, just the light flashing for all incoming calls)

History of what I've tried:

a. On one of the Extensions, I go thru the MENU, and put the RINGER to Off.

But it still rings for incoming calls !

Is it that it can only shut off an incoming call's ring when there actually is an incoming call coming in, and ringing ?

If this is so, how do I shut it off for any and all incoming calls (programming/doing it without there actually being on a call) ?

b. And, what is the difference between Silent Mode OFF, and Ringer Volume Off ?

c.How do I set Silent Mode to always be active, w/o having to pick a start and end time ?

Is this what I need ? Do I also have to "play" with the Ringer Volume ? How ?

I did try:

  1. Press the soft key below MENU and then press #, 1, 6, 0.
  2. Press the up or down arrow key repeatedly to select the desired setting.
  3. Press the soft key below SAVE.
  4. Press the OFF button to exit.

d. I tried the #160 (w/o commas) Incoming calls still Ring ! Have the icon with the line thru the bell

Much thanks, really appreciate the help, Bob

Are you sure it is the handset that is ringing? The base also has a ringer that needs to be turned off.

Howdy Bob,

Sounds to me like you're trying everything that should work. If you already tried calling Panasonic for help and didn't get anywhere, I would probably take everything back to the store and ask someone there to help. If they can't then return it and buy another make. Receipts are good, but most places will take something back that is in resaleable condition for store credit.

Bob,

I presume that you have the manual since you know how to turn the handset volume off, This does not prevent ringing for "intercom" calls. The base unit also has a ringer and that is discussed on Pg. 17 of the manual. With both the handset and the base volumes turned off incoming phone calls should not audibly ring. Silent mode is set to turn off the ringer for a certain period (perhaps while you sleep) during each day..
