The Earth is a globe not a circle. Wider at the equator because it is not a solid mass and from centrifugal force.

Since the dialog involved shapes I thought the use of the word Globe to describe the shape of the Earth rather than circle was a good choice.

The Earth was/is an imperfect circle only to people who believe the earth is flat. No I guess I'm wrong, it might be a disc... depending on what is on the other side.
To most people these days it is an imperfect sphere, changing its shape all the time.
