To all

Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous new year!! Thinking of hanging up the gauges in 2008, my brain says yes but my body says no-way hoze. Its a young mans trade and its probably time to pass the torch....so carry on my friends, you are in one of the most demanding, difficult, and thankless jobs- PEACE to you and your families, Mark

Mark,

Merry Christmas and a prosperous new year in what ever endeavors you take up.

You might want to consider a transitional period from full time to retirement. A reduction in hours as a transitional phase out of the trade can help reduce the stress and anxiety of such a big change. If you go cold turkey, you may be drawn back into the fold. This trade can be quite addictive and I have seen many get out only to be drawn back.

Our blood becomes galvanized from all the cuts we suffer, our lungs wouldn't know what to do with out a coating of fiberglass and chemicals and our bodies will miss the Summer's heatstrokes and Winter's hypothermia of our limbs. OTOH, Hold the door, I right behind ya...
