I am in the process of installing the interior doors in a new house. With regards to ensuring good air circulation, what is the suggested or optimum gap between the door bottom and the floor? Thanks........

About an inch is the only practical gap. Any more and it will start looking odd. Also as the gap increases the sound proofing goes down.

Like Paul said... have a return air duct system installed..... and as far as the clearance under a door, whatever it takes to clear the rugs/carpet and still be able to open/close the door.
