Starting spirea

At my daughter's house there is a "shoebutton" spirea that is blooming. I'd like to start some of these for my yard. What kind of cuttings do I take? I don't see any branches without flowers down the ends. The branches are very thin and brittle. We looked for suckers at the bottom but don't see any I could take.

do these propagate by bending the stem down and making contact with soil? or the tip?

Thanks, Brian. I'm going to write it on my calendar because I really want at least one of these spireas. Last year I looked on line and at nurseries and couldn't find this particular kind.

guess spirea like forsythia can be air layered. I like it cause results are basically 100% and I dont have to fool with watering, rotting off, shading the plant, etc. it is soooo easy to do. Ingrid
