...wiped out my garden today. Tomatoes and peppers that I had grown from seed are totally destroyed. The storm was a couple of hours ago, and the lawn is still white. I saw folks shoveling their decks like it was snow.
Guess I'll get to replant with shitty overpriced plants from Wal-mart.
I didn't see any dents in the cars, and no broken windows, so that's a good thing.

All of my plants came from seed also, my plants are so much better looking than the local green house. Over 200 vegi plants for my big gut. I just worked all day on my garden. I pray just for rain, not the hail.
I need to pray now ..... my lord God, Charles Darwin, thou in the earth, please spare my poor little garden so that I can survive to be the fittest, please save my little garden and let only the rain touch it and fill my rain barrels so they runnith over ... Amen!

What a bugger. Cyclones and tornados get all the publicity but hailstorms can be vastly destructive too. They don't totally erase a place like the other storms but they cause untold damage to agriculture and huge insurance bills in built up areas. Sydney (where I used to live) copped a bad one a few years ago that cost about 2 billion dollars.

Well, in my corner of south-east Michigan, we got plenty of thunder and lightning, and a much-needed dose of rain. I hope it was the same for Dan L.
It was bad enough that we had frost overnight Tues-Wed; adding hail on Friday would have been truly, truly depressing. All that work covering things up (still had minor damage) would have been wiped out.
*whew*
So sorry!!! That was just awful. Maybe you can get plants from a nursery so you don't have to patronize W******.

I kept an eye on the online weather sites, I kept an eye on the lows and planted after the lows got above 50 degrees which was Thursday. The thunderstorm was not too bad, a few of my smaller plants did not hold up well to the extreme winds. I always grow extra seed plants than I have garden space. I will be replacing those damaged plants today. When I see things going well, I toss the extra plants into the compost pile. Much need rain was needed. After all that needed rain my grass and garden is still dry dry dry two days later. My rain barrels are full but for how long?
It is a good thing that people ignore the nonsense parts in my post. People are smart here :)
