restorative agriculture

in my wandering around the web looking at various projects and watching how they are doing through time i came across this one recently and finally had some time today to look at the area in more detail...

Sadhana Forest, Haiti:

https://www.google.com/maps/place/Sadhana+Forest/@18.0427155,-71.7635496,4261m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m2!3m1!1s0x8eba2e27874a6ba5:0xd4977f2fd2cfd39b!6m1!1e1?hl=en

very intresting and you can see the work they are doing and how it has changed the area. started in April 2010 and already looks much improved (compared to the surrounding area). you can see the lines in the fields they've worked on (north and along the coast is spots and even some areas towards the border with the DR).

as far as details on how it is going in other areas they are working on and if the wider community is learning i don't know.

wish i were younger and braver, but Haiti is one of those places in the world that i'd be too paranoid to ever visit (language, diseases, poverty, unstable government, etc.) still i can cheer them on from here and wish them every continued success. in reading their website about volunteering they say they are removed from the larger cities and a lot of troubles, but still i'm way too paranoid to visit.

$6/day is what they ask for to be a volunteer and of course willingness to work half the day during the week plus some other chores.
