Tumble Dryer Vent ?

How easy is it to fit one of those vents that go thru the house wall to the outside? sick to death keeping the back door open now that winters approaching, too far for tube to reach the window.

TIA

Mostly straightforward, and well worth doing. Main problem is (obviously) you have to make a big hole in a double skin wall, so that means drilling a ring of holes, then hammer and chisel. Also, you've a good chance of meeting a wall tie.... that's a pain...

Just hire a 107mm diamond core cutter with drill and you will be able to cut a beautiful smooth round hole through anything wall ties included. You can then fit either a 100mm dia tube with shuttered exterior vent, or a fan assisted kit (look on Wickes website). Drill hire approx =A326 per day, less for 1/2 a day. Don't chisel through the wall as you are liable to do damage, it will be hard work, and the result will be ragged.

Go and hire a Core Drill for half a day. Baz

Very!.

If you look around you should be able to get a through-wall fitting kit, which includes a round to square converter to go on the inside wall, a rectangular duct roughly half a brick in section, and an external louvred cover.

All you have to do is measure carefully, chop out half a brick on the outside, use a long masonry drill to mark the 4 corners, then chop out inside. I didn't even need to make good the plaster, the interior plate easily covered everything.
