Asbestos - What is the replacement for it? Outdoor cladding on timber building

Hi, Does anyone know what the replacement is for asbestos when used as external cladding? Asbestos lasts (almost for ever), doesn&#39;t need treating, painting, preserving. I was wondering what the direct replacement would be.....

Surely there must be an asbestos alternative? .. apart from plastic cladding....

Fibre Cement - very similar to asbestos cement, but with the asbestos replaced with cellulose fibres.
