Cleaning Motivation

I suppose this has been going on long enough and I need some type of solution for this.

I know that I am a bit of a slob when it comes to stuff that is lying around. It has been in the same position for years as far as paper that has been sitting in one place and such items.

I know that I have some type of deep seeded atituted when it comes to cleaning and picking up anything.

Can any one tell me why this happens?

I know that in the past, my mother would litterally scream her lungs out to get me to do anything. This has caused me to become numb to picking stuff up and cleaning in general.

Are there any solutions for this Attitude?

Thank for any advice.

I'm not being a smartass... If just doing some cleaning causes mental anguish then get therapy. If you're just lazy like I am, have a party and invite guests you wouldn't want to see your house messy. Now that's motivation!

I have the same problem for the same reason. My mom used to yell at me to get me to clean up my room and help clean up the house. Now I absolutely hate housework.

The only things I've found that help are (1) to have someone to live with. I'm respectful of their right not to live in a mess, so I clean up more than I do when I live alone. And (2) invite people over on a regular basis (as someone suggested) so that you're motivated to clean up.

I also clean thoroughly whenever family comes for a visit, since they will be all over the house, using the shower, etc.

I suppose therapy would help, but that costs money, usually.

clutter is the worst enemy to cleaning. The more clutter, the longer it takes to clean, the less likely it is you'll do it.
