Re: Don't act surprised.

Nothing surprising there about the content other than it being a very consice well article that would/could otherwise receive awards were it not for the content itself... which will likely put the author on the current administration's "hit" list

You left out one all-important step.
To whit, grabbing some poor unwitting friends of yours (who don't know you as well as they ought because they're simple, decent, trusting fellows), who are loyal because they *are* friends, and tell them that, Hey, this a*hole lept outta nowhere, and for no reason at all, whacked you with the 2X4 and then (since embellishment is also very important to the egocentric narcissistic 'it's not my fault' personality) tell these friends that the a*hole then ran inside and came out brandishing a Gatling gun at you. And then hiring those guys to go beat up the guy who was stupid enough to try to fend you off.

What imagine? Just look through companies in general. OFten, the CEO *IS* the worst employee - not working to help the business, only maneuvering and buttsucking so as to get into a position to self-award a multi-million golden parachute.

They seem to mostly do well and carry on for a long time.

They won't because most wouldn't be able to find another job, never mind a better job. Usually a worse job. As the Old Saw goes: "Better the devil you know, than the devil you don't know."

Usually the CEO ends up wit a luxurious mansion, plus a coule of vacation homes, plus several cars that cost what some poeple's homes cost, plus all sorts of other luxuries, and, just as the icing on the cake, political power as well because peole see "former CEO" and never look past that to see the prior acts that lie beneath the title.
The analogy holds through most (if not all) human power hierarchies, secular or otherwise.
