I think the sleeve that slides the door along the opener track has caught somewhere. The openener hasn't worked for awhile and I have the sleeve unlocked to allow for free movement of the door. Pulling the release cable does nothing. Am I screwed?

The load in the sheaves increases as the door lowers. They can look normal to the inexperienced eye. They can even look normal when off the door. Change all four, especially if the door used to work well. Make sure the front pulleys do not rub against the track assembly. Space them out with a washer.
If a garage door's not working properly, there’s no need to panic because it's could be easy to deal with. First thing to do would be, to check whether the power source has been disrupted. If it doesn't close all the way, check the door if it's working when you manually raise and lower it. If the garage door reverses immediately after hitting the floor, the close force just probably needs adjusting. I think that there is something hooked up in the sleeves. You should call a specialist repairer to fix this problem.
