THE FACTS: I hired a licensed contractor to add a wood deck to the back of my home with steps down to our backyard grass about four feet below. I arrived home, late afternoon yesterday to find a partially poured, concrete landing pad for the steps. Based on the attached video, do I have any reason for concern? I have seen concrete pours on many residential projects over the years, but none that ever looked like this. Prep work appears to be minimal.

LOCAL CONDITIONS: The soil below the pad is damp much of the time, and it rains frequently throughout the year. The home is located at an elevation of approx. 2100ft., and the clouds often come into contact with the ground as they move across my local area. Humidity is generally between 75% to 85%, and the temperature range can be anywhere from 55 degrees at night to 85 degrees during the day. It never freezes. [IMG]

No that does not look like typical quality concrete work and you should be concerned. Don't pay them another penny until they resolve this issue and your property looks just as you want it too.
