I know how the sock got stuck on the pump. I need to know how to get it out without call the repair man.

I have a sock stuck in the pump of my maytag washer. I removed the back panel and checked the hoses. They were clean. I removed the top hoping to be able to see the pump. I could not find it and need to get to it to remove the sock. I cannot afford a repair man.
