Flame coming out the bottom of thermocoupler on furnace

Had to get the thermocoupler replaced in our furnace. Now when you look at thermocoupler when the heat is on there is a flame coming out of the copper gas line that runs to the thermocoupler. I have tried to tighten and loosen it but the flame still persists. Any ideas?

  1. The compression nut or ferruel are defective. 2. The tubing has a crack in it. Most of the time the tubing has a small crack in it. You can pick up a new 1/4 inch compression nut and ferruel at a hardware store, Lowe's, Home Depo, ect.. Turn off the gas, remove the line from the pilot and cut the line below the nut. Install the new nut and ferruel and rehook the line to the pilot. This should solve your problem
