Can a malfunctioning furnace valve cause flame rollout?

Ok, my electrical wires are fried in my furnace. We noticed recently a flame rollout, not during the cycle but AFTER the heating cycle was over.

We turned off the electric to the unit and the burning continued until we shut off the gas valve outside of the furnace.

The inducer fan was already off.

It does not appear that the culprate is a usual suspect.

So, is it possible that the valve inside the furnace is so screwed up that it is refusing to CLOSE when no electricity is being sent to keep it open?

Or is it more likely that the control board is to blame, keeping the valve open long after the rest of the system has been shut down?
