I have had a GLS Halogen light bulb explode on me ...... and I mean explode .... violently!! It shattered the decorative shade it was in and even though it had a shade around it, it left a debris field of about 10 feet diameter!
I know that barebones halogen lamps can explode due to contamination, but I understand that these new GLS bulbs have a fuse inbuilt to stop such things happening.
Anybody have any inside knowledge as to how this can happen ..... for instance and assuming proper construction, can this inbuilt fuse be defeated somehow?
