If you've damaged the Freon lines of a room air conditioner, the cheapest and best approach is to buy a new replacement. You probably don't have the training and proper equipment to repair the leak, pump all the air out of the system with a refrigeration vacuum pump, and properly fill the system with the exact amount of Freon and compressor oil that is required. If it's any consolation, current model a/c's tend to be more energy efficient than those made even a few years ago.
